Who we are

MeterProof is run by TODO_KATLEGO: company or trading name (the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act, POPIA). Our information officer is TODO_KATLEGO: information officer's name, TODO_KATLEGO@example.co.za.

What we collect and why

  • Your name, WhatsApp number, optional email address and suburb.
  • Your answers about the account, such as which services are on it, whether you have already lodged a query, and whether you have had a disconnection notice.
  • The bill PDFs you upload. Bills show the account holder's name, address, account number and consumption.
  • Which WhatsApp group link you came from, if any.

We use this for one thing: a one-off check of your bill and a note to you about the result. If you buy a dispute pack, we also use it to prepare your written dispute with you. We count page visits by time, page and group link only. We don't use cookies or third-party analytics, and we don't store your IP address or device details.

Who sees it

The person who reviews bills for MeterProof. Bills are read with the help of AI: the PDF is sent through Lovable's AI service to the model provider (Anthropic, for Claude models), which may process it outside South Africa. A person checks every point before your note is sent. We don't sell your information or share it with anyone else, and we never contact the City or City Power about you.

Where it's stored and for how long

Your bills and details are stored privately in Lovable Cloud, our hosting provider. Nobody else can open them. We delete your bills and personal details on 7 January 2027, 60 days after the test ends on 8 November 2026, unless you buy a dispute pack. If you do, we keep them while we help you with your dispute. We keep anonymous counts, such as how many bills we checked.

Your rights

You may ask to see the information we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, or object to how we use it. You may also complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa), inforeg.org.za.

How to ask us to delete your information

Message us on WhatsApp or email TODO_KATLEGO@example.co.za. Include your reference (MP-XXXXX) if you have it.
